This autumn PwC Legal begins operations in Latvia as part of PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited, the world’s largest network of professional services firms.

“Establishing a law firm in Latvia is a natural step in developing the global network of assurance, tax and advisory firms,” says Zlata Elksnina-Zascirinska, chair of the board of PricewaterhouseCoopers SIA. “PwC is the largest global network among the so-called Big Four, which means that PwC Legal’s lawyers are working shoulder to shoulder with our tax, financial and business consultants in 157 countries around the world. Law firms emerging alongside our assurance, tax and advisory firms reinforce our ability to provide not only top quality legal aid, which is an old-established standard, but to offer plenty more on the Latvian market.”

“Our experience shows that clients expect from lawyers more than just interpreting laws and drafting contracts. Thanks to our huge resources and vast global experience, PwC Legal will be providing legal aid that has been comprehensively considered from tax, business and financial aspects. The standard range of services will also be available, yet we will be focusing on innovative and original solutions created and implemented by our experts in a variety of areas to give our clients the value they’re looking for,” says attorney at law Janis Lagzdins, the managing partner of PwC Legal Latvia.

PwC Legal practises in over 80 countries around the world, including Lithuania and Estonia, and employs a total of 2,400 lawyers communicating in 123 languages.

PwC Legal’s main areas of practice are M&A, reorganisation, restructuring and insolvency, banking and finance law, real estate and construction law, corporate law, tax law, labour law, immigration law, data protection, intellectual property, competition law, public and private partnership, public and administrative law, dispute resolution, and litigation.

Janis Lagzdins, the managing partner of PwC Legal, heads its M&A and corporate law practice. He has extensive legal experience in commercial law and corporate law, obligations law and property law, insolvency matters, and other business-related areas of law. As a legal expert, Janis Lagzdins has been involved in a number of high-level M&A, corporate and financial restructuring transactions, purchases and sales of assets and real estate, and has advised clients on takeover and insolvency matters.
